Welcome to the Footloose Ferrett’s travelogue

Now in my late twenties, I have been travelling, working and living overseas on and off since I was nineteen. I have backpacked alone through more than 30 countries and travelled to 20 more on holidays with friends and family. Amongst a thousand other things, I have tubed down the Mekong river in Laos, partied in a Brazilian favela, mud wrestled in South Korea and tried to shoot rabbits in New Zealand. This travelogue is my first ever attempt to document my travels and I hope that others find it useful and enjoyable,

Having coped with a couple of truly horrendous incidents whilst backpacking in the past safety is without a doubt my one of my main concerns and through my self-reflections I hope to give other travellers (real and virtual alike) lots of knowledge, ideas and reassurance. I, for one, have realised that no matter what life throws at me my wanderlust refuses to die…so I'm headed off on my current adventure in August 2011. Starting in St. Petersburg in Russia and with a flight booked home from Havana, Cuba a year later- I have ventured through some amazing, little-visited and surprising countries as well as some backpacker hotspots.Currently I'm in Latin America making my way overland from Salvador de Bahia, Brazil to Mexico City. I hope that you enjoy virtually following me on my incredible journey.
