I visited South Africa and Lesotho in 2004 and will be revisting South Africa in 2012. For my previous trip, I backpacked solo from Cape Town to Durban via the Garden Route and then from Durban to Pretoria via the Drakensburg Mountains, Pietermartizburg and Johannesburg. My personal highlights were a 2-day safari in Pilanesburg National Park, the Apartheid Museum/ Soweto tour in Jo'burg and 4x4 trip into rural Lesotho.If I remember correctly the beaches and the food were pretty awesome too!
